The Finance, Risk and Audit Committee advises the Board on financial reporting, audit and risk management matters.
Mr Jason Currie (Chair) BSc, LLB, MIP, GCPA
Program Manager in Vanguard Health
Jason Currie has worked in the healthcare improvement and innovation space for more than a decade and is currently a Program Manager in Vanguard Health. Jason has delivered statewide improvement programs, established support programs for medical research, provided policy advice to various government departments, and worked as a Patent Examiner in IP Australia. Jason has a passion challenging the status quo, for fostering innovation and reducing the time delay between research creation and practice change.
Mr Paul Monaghan
Director Corporate Services, Greenslopes Private Hospital
Paul Monaghan is an experienced financial management and corporate services executive, having worked initially in auditing and accounting, then moving into increasingly more diverse senior management positions of health care and non-government organisations. Paul currently is the Director Corporate Services, Greenslopes Private Hospital. Paul holds Fellow status of CPA Australia and ACHSM and has had long term interest in the education and development of managers and has held leadership roles in these professional bodies. In recognition for his contribution to university teaching, he is also an Adjunct Professor of QUT School of Public Health. Paul’s teaching topics included financial administration and risk management.
Chief Executive Officer, Queensland Council of Social Service
Mark Henley is Chief Executive Officer of the Queensland Council of Social Service (QCOSS) – Queensland’s leading force for social change to eliminate poverty and disadvantage. Mark’s professional background is in accountancy. He commenced with the Spinal Injuries Association, as Chief Accountant in 1989 and then become Chief Executive Officer from 1999 to 2011. Mark steered the Association through its greatest period of growth, influence of systemic community change and development of services. Mark has more than 20 years in community service and a commitment to building services, independence, dignity and better outcomes for people experiencing poverty disadvantage. During this time he worked with government, business and the broader community. He is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow Certified Practising Accountant.
Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC):
The role of the Scientific Advisory Committee is to provide strategic advice to the Board of Directors on the scientific direction for the Foundation. The Chair is appointed by the Board.
Grants Advisory Committee (GAC):
The Grants Advisory Committee (GAC) oversees the entire peer review process for QEMRF and is accountable directly to the Trustees of the Foundation. The GAC has responsibility for peer review of the Project Grants, Program Grants, Fellowship Schemes and Capacity Building Grants. The Committee members are composed in relation to a grant round and the expertise they bring to the Committee for the applications received. The Chair is appointed by the Board.
Grants Review Panel (GRP):
The GRP has responsibility for peer review of the Staff Specialist and Trainee Grant Schemes and is accountable to the GAC. Members of the GRP may vary with each round, depending on the expertise required. The Chair is appointed by the Board.
