The Queensland Emergency Medicine Research Foundation is the registered business name of Queensland Emergency Medicine Research Foundation Ltd ACN 128 057 170 as trustee of the Queensland Emergency Medicine Research Foundation ABN 37 814 620 674, a trust (“Trust”) established as a charitable institution and health promotion charity.
The Queensland Emergency Medicine Research Foundation is governed by a constitution, with ultimate responsibility lying with the Board of Directors.

Dr David Rosengren
Director since 22 April 2009, current Chair.Qualifications: Graduate of University of Queensland. Became a FACEM in 2003. Experience: His current roles include Chair of Queensland faculty of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM), Director of Emergency Centre at Greenslopes Private Hospital and Senior Staff Specialist Department of Emergency Medicine Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH). He was the Director of the Metropolitan ED Access Initiative (MEDAI) completing a report to the Minister for Health in June 2012. He is a member of ACEM Private Practice and Accreditation Committees, Department of Health and Ageing NationalEmergency Department Project Advisory Committee (NEDPACand Queensland Health Statewide Emergency Department Clinical Network. Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine.

Mr Jason Currie
Director since 14 September 2010Qualifications: BSc 2002; LLB 2004; MIP 2006; GCPA 2008; Experience: Executive Director, Queensland Clinical Services Redesign Program 2010-current; Director, Office of Health and Medical Research, Queensland Health, 2008-2010; prior to 2008 Jason has worked in policy roles within Queensland Health, the Department of State Development and in technical roles as an Examiner of Patents for Intellectual Property Australia.

Ms Jane Schmitt
Director since 27 February 2012Jane is a Lawyer by profession, having worked in private and corporate arenas, and as Partner in one of Australasia’s largest claims and insurance businesses. Jane’s move into management has seen her in executive roles at Australia’s largest medical indemnity insurer and Master Builders Australia, before taking on the role of Chief Executive Officer at AMA Queensland. Since joining AMA Queensland, Jane has initiated a raft of innovative operational and strategic changes to enhance the association’s influence, community profile and support for members. Jane is driven and excited by the challenge of leading the State’s peak medical representative body. She is a strategic thinker, a straight talker and contributes vision and enthusiasm, strong leadership skills and business acumen.

Prof. David Taylor
Director since 27 February 2012Prof Taylor is Director of Emergency and General Medicine Research, and Chair of the Ethics Committee at Austin Health, Melbourne. A Melbourne University graduate, he undertook post-graduate training in the UK, worked as a volunteer in Papua New Guinea, as a medical officer in Antarctica and as a Research Fellow and Attending Physician in the USA. He undertakes clinical research full-time and serves as Chair of the ACEM Clinical Trials Group, member of the Trainee Research Committee, and as Section Editor for Emergency Medicine Australasia.

Prof Anthony Brown
Director since 14 March 2012 to presentCurrently Senior Staff Specialist in Emergency Medicine at Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital (RBWH), Professor Discipline of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, School of Medicine, University of Queensland and Editor-in-Chief of the Emergency Medicine Australasia journal. Qualifications: MB ChB, FRCP (UK), FRCS (Ed), FACEM, FCEM. Anthony is also a Senior Examiner for ACEM and a recent Member and Senior Adjudicator for the ACEM Trainee Research Committee. His particular interests include medical editing and writing, anaphylaxis, medical education, and medicolegal medicine. Prof Brown has published widely in numerous peer reviewed journals and written many medical textbooks from large multi-author to small handbooks.

Ms Karen Murphy
Director since 13 November 2012 to present.An experienced Non-Executive Director with a brand building pedigree, Karen’s tertiary qualifications are in business, management and corporate governance. Her recent roles include driving a national health reform program to increase organ donation rates for the commonwealth government. Prior to this assignment Karen led a subsidiary of a publicly listed company spearheading new levels of growth and exceeding targeted profits, through embedding new business development and marketing capacity and driving cultural change. Karen has strong business and brand development background and has successfully held national and international leadership roles across various sectors including legal, financial services, engineering services, ICT solutions, medical, government and not-for-profit. Finding new and innovative ways of doing things is core to Karen’s approach.

Mr Cameron Smith
Director since 13 November to present.Cameron is the Managing Director of Enterprise Brokers, a strategy and performance improvement consultancy that services the finance, construction and manufacturing industries. Prior to heading up Enterprise Brokers, Cameron was a consultant with McKinsey and Company where he was involved with a variety of clients in the airline, petroleum, steel and beverage industries. He has also held senior management roles in Boral and Origin Energy and was a Captain in the Australian Army. Cameron holds a Royal Commission from the Portsea Military College and an MBA from the University of Virginia, Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.

Ms Monique Belousoff
Company SecretaryMonique has over 20 years of experience in the marketing, professional services and not for profit area and is a Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute with Certified Practising Marketer status (FAMI CPM) and a Certificated Member of the Chartered Secretaries of Australia (CSA). She oversees the financial processes and general every day running of the Foundation liaising with the accountant and auditor as well as the preparation of Board and annual general meeting documents. She is also the Company Secretary for the Foundation. In addition, Monique looks after the newsletter, marketing collateral and media releases/articles for the Foundation. She also liaises with external suppliers for the Foundation including IT and communications support.
