"You see a problem. We see an opportunity"

There is no ‘typical’ day in emergency medicine whether it’s a case of a major incident involving many patients, the spread of a highly contagious disease or the 2 year old with an object stuck in his ear.

However every day, physicians face time and resource pressures which need to be overcome to achieve positive outcomes for the facility and the patient.

Every day in Queensland Health 4,228 emergency services are provided for non-admitted patients in acute public hospitals and 34,073 non-admitted patient services, including emergency services, are provided in acute public hospitals (from the Queensland Health website).

There are nearly one million attendances to a Queensland Health Emergency Department every year.

If you can see ways to create better efficiencies, improve standards and create best practice models to achieve exceptional results then QEMRF may be able to assist.

Applications for Directors Position Extended to COB Tuesday 7 February

We have had some interest from a variety of people in the Casual Vacancies on the Board and in order to ensure we receive as many nominations as possible, we are extending the deadline for nominations until COB Tuesday 7 February.

For further information, please contact Monique on (07) 3129 7500.

2 Director Positions – QEMRF Board

Two current elected QEMRF Directors have indicated their desire to retire from the Board at the earliest convenience – Dr David Spain and Professor Gerry FitzGerald.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for committing to remain on the Board through the process of developing and adopting the new Constitution.  The process of recruiting two Casual Directors as per the new Constitution begins.

Directors for Casual Vacancies are to fill out a nomination form by 6 February for the Queensland Faculty of ACEM to consider appointing.  Interested parties do not have to be a FACEM to be eligible.  It is the Board’s desire that the Elected Directors are representative of the Emergency Medicine Physicians employed in Queensland Public Hospitals (for example, geographical location, size of hospital, gender, ethnicity, age, etc…).

If you are interested in becoming an Elected Director on the QEMRF Board and would like more information on eligibility and the role/responsibility of a Director, please contact either Dr David Rosengren (Chair) on 0417 615 223 or Monique Belousoff (Company Secretary) on (07) 3129 7500, 0419 659 802 or monique.belousoff@qemrf.org.au.
